A Plague Tale: Innocence came out in 2019 and was a well-rated game that year. The game also appears to have sparked interest in the TV world. A series based on the game has just been announced.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is set in France during the Hundred Years War. The game is about brother and sister Hugo and Amicia who are on the run from the Inquisition and the plague. These things combined produced a compelling story and that is what various TV studios thought too.
There was interest from studios in the US to make a series based on A Plague Tale, but instead the series will be a French production, just like the game itself. This will also keep production closer to A Plague Tale developer Asobo.
Little is known about the series, but there is already a name for it. French director Mathieu Turi confirms on Twitter that he is working on the series. Turi served as assistant director for Inglorious Basterds and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, among others. His role for the A Plague Tale series is not yet known, although some form of director is obvious.
The story of A Plague Tale continues in games as well. A sequel will be released sometime this year. It’s called A Plague Tale: Requiem and will be released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and on Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming.
