Jak and Daxter may be the next PlayStation franchise to get a TV or movie adaptation. Sony is currently working on The Last of Us and Uncharted is due out this month, but it doesn’t seem like it will stop there.
In an interview, Uncharted director Ruben Fleischer says he is developing a potential adaptation of the classic franchise. Fleischer said, “I’m actually already working on Jak and Daxter, a version of that, for PlayStation, I think it’s going to be a cool thing to bring to life.”
Tom Holland, who play Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie, also previously revealed that his next dream video game adaptation would be a live-action take on Jak and Daxter, in which he would have to play the main protagonist.
Sony has not officially announced any plans, but Fleischer confirms that at least there are discussions about it. This also means there is hope for a possible new Jak and Daxter game. PlayStation previously released an animated Ratchet & Clank movie, leading to a reboot of the game on PlayStation 4 in 2016.
It’s been a while since Jak and Daxter was in the spotlight. The last release was in 2009 with Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier on PlayStation 2 and PSP. The first three games in the series were remastered for the Jak and Daxter Collection on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in 2012 and 2013.
