Devil May Cry anime series still alive

Adi Shankar, producer of Netflix anime series Castlevania, gave an update on the anime series based on game series Devil May Cry during a recent interview.

Shankar’s Netflix adaptation was already announced in November 2018, but it has been fairly quiet around the series since then. However, that now changed with the update the producer gave to IGN Japan:

“The season 1 scripts are ready. They are awesome. I’m really excited and can confirm that Vergil, Lady and of course Dante are in it. I can also confirm that Chris Pratt will not be providing any of the voices… It’s great to work with Capcom, they have a lot of characters that are interesting.”

The first game in the series was released in 2001 for the Playstation 2 and Devil May Cry V, the most recent instalment, is regarded as the most successful in the franchise. In Devil May Cry we follow Dante, an arrogant demon hunter with a big mouth who is the child of a human woman and the legendary demon Sparda. Motivated by the loss of his mother and the apparent death of his twin brother, Dante runs the demon-hunting company Devil May Cry.
