Nintendo is teaming up with Illumination, the creators of Despicable Me, to make a Mario movie. The film is aiming for a release at the end of 2022 and will have a serious all-star cast to voice the voices.
Chris Pratt will take on the role of Mario, while Charlie Day, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will play Luigi. Anya Taylor Joy, The Queen’s Gambit, will be the voice of Peach, Jack Black of Bowser, Keegan Michael Key of Toad and Seth Rogan of Donkey Kong. Charles Martinet, the original voice of Mario, will make a cameo in the film.
No images have been shared of the film yet, but Nintendo promises to show something sometime early next year. The film is set to release in the US on December 21, while no dates have yet been set for the rest of the world.
