Dragon Age “in active development” at Netflix

According to a report from Giant Freakin Robot, BioWare’s Dragon Age fantasy universe will be the next game franchise to receive a series adaptation on Netflix. The streaming giant is reportedly actively working on a Dragon Age series, although it has not yet been announced by Netflix or BioWare.

This series report comes from a “trusted and previously proven source”, although very little is known about the adaptation at this time. Because of this, we don’t know whether it will be a live-action adaptation like The Witcher, or whether the studio will opt for animation, such as Castlevania.

BioWare’s popular action RPG is set on the continent of Thedas and follows the experiences of a group moving through this mythical world. The franchise has already had several spin-off games in addition to the main games. Dragon Age 4 is also currently in development. According to the latest reports, Dragon Age 4 should appear in 2023.

The Dragon Age series offers many possibilities for the streaming service, with an extensive world full of characters and unique lore. The Dragon Age franchise could therefore be the next big move for Netflix to present itself as the platform where games and series / movies come together. Netflix previously brought The Witcher, Castlevania and Resident Evil to the television screen. And the streaming service is also working on series around Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed. Dragon Age would be a nice addition to that.
