Netflix is working on an animated series based on the Tomb Raider franchise. The series will take on a Japanese anime style and, according to the streaming service, capitalizes on the recent reboot trilogy, which concluded with 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The Tomb Raider anime is set after the events of the three recent Tomb Raider games, Netflix reports in a press release. The company is not reporting on the anime’s cast yet. For example, it is not clear whether Camilla Luddington, the voice actress of Lara Croft in the recent reboot trilogy, is participating in the project. Netflix does announce who will produce the anime.
Tasha Huo collaborates on the animated series as a writer and executive producer. Huo is working on The Witcher: Blood Origin, a series that should also be released on Netflix. Dj2 Entertainment also participates in the series. That company previously worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It is not yet clear when the Tomb Raider anime will be released.
