Netflix has announced a new project around an existing franchise. This time it is ‘Splinter Cell’, the game series based on the novels created by American writer Tom Clancy.
The streaming service is going to work on a Splinter Cell animation series which will be written by John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. He is also the executive producer. Netflix immediately ordered two seasons with sixteen episodes.
The first ‘Splinter Cell’ game was released in 2002 and no fewer than six consecutive games followed. The game follows Sam Fisher, the first agent from the NSA’s ‘Third Echelon’. His goal: to safeguard security and peace for the United States. Their existence is secret and will always be denied.
Previously, Venom and Peaky Blinders actor Tom Hardy was associated with the character Sam Fisher, but it seems unlikely that he will appear in this animated series from Netflix.
