Netflix’s The Witcher characters revealed

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, executive producer for the upcoming The Witcher tv-serie, has posted a couple of tweets with information over the characters we will be seeing in the serie.

Hissrich wrote the following on Twitter: “And now, all in one handy thread… #The Witcher characters.”┬áThe next 12 tweets she wrote we would be seeing Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Jaskier, Triss Merigold, Emhyr, Milva, Cahir, Regis, Vilgefortz, Roach and Leo Bonhart.

Hissrich describes Geralt as “Stoic. Circumspect. Balanced. Fierce. Soft-and-squishy-in-a-tiny-place-in-his-heart-that-he’ll-never-reveal-until-maybe-the-end-and-even-then-it-will-just-be-a-hint” and his lover Yennefer as “Fiery. Proud. Shrewd. Contradictory. Seeking-to-fill-a-family-sized-hole-in-her-heart-even-though-she-resents-it-and-swears-she’s-just-fine-on-her-own-but-she-is-not-and-we-love-her-for-being-both-independent-and-vulnerable.”

The Witcher game series has been around for ten years now and it follows the life of Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher who travels and slays monsters with the help of his enhanced powers and incredible fighting abilities.

Apart from a few special editions and add-ons, the last game to be released was in 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won a ridiculous amount of accolades including multiple game of the year awards, a variety of artistic achievements, and best characters and storytelling.

The first series of the show will include eight episodes and will be solely based on the books, with more writers being planned to be drafted in, in order to help the production process and reach the predicted release date of 2020.
